Zinc Recycling
Zinc is rarely heard of but ranks 4th in the world as the most used metal. The reason we hear little about zinc is because it is used more in alloying than being used in pure form. You will find zinc in very commonly used items and products like galvanized steel, brass, die-casting and some American coins.
Pure zinc in recycling is rather rare but very popular being referred to as die-cast (zinc and aluminum). Die-cast is used in many collectible items, toy cars, models, plumbing and automobiles.
Die-cast is commonly mistaken as cast aluminum because the very similar visual properties. An experienced handler will be able to determine the difference, usually by the color and weight.
